From birth, she was supposed to continue on her parents’ legacy. Just another soldier. A tool to be used for vengeance. She didn’t mind though. It was all she knew. Talia was not raised. She was trained. Trained to be the best killer she could be. She would have to be, if she were to survive against them.Vampires. Her family’s enemy. Humanity’s enemy, or so she was taught. It was indoctrinated into her. Burned into her very soul. They were monsters to be destroyed. Not directly however. Direct confrontation was not their strong suit. They were stronger. Faster. More able to kill if they got close. So she had to learn how to use the shadows instead. Place brain over brawn.
Time passed. During that time, she developed. learned to lie. Learned to smile. Learned to fake emotions until there was no telling the difference between genuine and not. She was becoming exactly what her family wanted her to be. A blade in the dark. A card to use against their foes. Able to get close to their prey without raising alarm. Then just as capable drawing the blade.However it was not without consequence. She knew how to avoid attention. How to slip away in the blink of an eye. But her parents were not so fortunate. They got caught. Slaughtered by the very creatures they hunted. She had been trained well though. She took over where they left off. Extended a web throughout the cities. The Widows were something to fear, and she their leader. She was Talia Bracken. A whisper. A movement out of the corner of one’s eye. She was death with a disarming smile.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
