ORIENTATION: Bisexual
POSITION: Escort
RACE: Registered Human♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 5'11"
HAIR COLOR: Dusty brown
EYE COLOR: Light blue with flecks of gray green
MISC: No tattoos, no piercings, but the lack of body art and jewelry doesn't make Adrian a plain guy. He is a registered human for a reason. The perks of the position give him better living conditions, and he tries to present himself with just a bit of status. Although bottom of the food chain, he is above the unregistered humans and he carries himself as such. His clothing is generally kept clean and unwrinkled, nothing too small or too large, and he has an affinity for combat boots and bomber jackets, if he can get his hands on them. He does have a few scars, mostly from physical altercations in the outer city in his teen years. He oftentimes presents himself with an air of subtle superiority.
PERSONALITY: Adrian was always that the obsessive, narcissistic asshole that most people hate. He thinks way too highly of himself and he obsesses over the little details of the situation, which often makes him forget the bigger picture. However, on the outside, he’s the handsome, incredibly charming man just looking to have a good time. He’s always been excellent at smooth-talking his way into anything and even getting a good lay once in a while, and considering what fate has handed the human race he tries very hard to gain most of what he wants. Before and after living in the inner city he acted as such, but that doesn't make him a snot-nosed spoiled brat when it comes to getting his way. Adrian works for what he wants, and he works to live as best he can.
When it comes to words or fists, Adrian will always choose words as his charm and charisma is his preferred weapon of choice. Of course it is always what can land him in some hot water, but where he gets himself into trouble he works to get himself out of it just as swiftly. Fortunately his mischief streak ended in his early twenties and he's learned to carry himself with a sort of professionalism. Sometimes that crosses over into coming off arrogant, but he has no qualms about appearing too over confident. As an opportunist he found his way into a more comfortable lifestyle by becoming a registered human, and he does not hesitate to let anyone who disagrees on that matter know of the perks he enjoys. In fact, he does act above those who live in the outer city, he isn't shy about letting them know how he feels about them.
Strangers will have difficulty telling whether or not he is interested in them, but Adrian does try to speak in ways to keep them around long enough to figure them out. People, strangers prominently, are approached like puzzles, and Adrian has coy way of picking and prodding to figure out who they are exactly while taking care to share as little as he can about himself. He likes to keep from expressing any emotions he may be feeling, be it to family and friends as well, and he can be somewhat uncompromising. This isn’t stated, he doesn’t ever bother to mention his dislike of oversharing.
Adrian also guards himself to the fullest extent he can, but behind the fortified walls is a very warm and soft person. He shields his vulnerable side because he is sensitive, and he attaches swiftly if someone manages to worm their way close to him. That, though, is a rare occurrence due to Adrian’s well practiced ability to keep all his relationships business-like. He’s mostly dropped any and all ideas of emotional intimacy with his new life inside the inner city. He is very self critical, however, and for anyone to catch him in one of those moments? Oh boy, be prepared for any sort of melt down.
SECRET(S): Nothing, of any real sort, except maybe his skilled sleight of hand. He made for a decent pitpocketer and burglar in his teen years while scraping up a living off the rocks in the outer city. Since life has become significantly cozier since moving into the inner city he hasn't returned to his old skills, for the most part.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Adrian Carter was born thirty three years ago on a quiet October morning. He was an unplanned kid, second to his older brother, and his mother being pregnant with him made for a rocky relationship between her and his father. Living on the outer city was difficult in its own way, planning to raise not one but two sons added a whole lot more to the rocky road of life. Although there was some resentment between them they remained together, and his father helped them to grow and thrive. His older brother was the tougher of the two, and he was older than Adrian by four years. By the time Adrian was ready to work alongside his father his brother's hands were calloused from hard work and mind honed into perfectionist survival instinct. There was never time for fun with him, which Adrian never much liked, but he knew family couldn't be chosen so he took the bitterness in stride.
What he learned while growing up was the opportunists were the ones who lived, and his father taught both boys the art of break ins and robbery. Because of that path the family had to live in a more secluded area, a place less traveled by most to keep them protected. To threaten and steal from people never made for good friends, and no amount of charisma could make an enemy trust you. That was fine being without other friends and positive connections, and Adrian didn't see the negative part of it until he was about twelve. Some people raider their home in the night, and their father was killed in the flurry of chaos that erupted. Their mother told them to run and to not return for their own safety, and run they did. They ran until the sun rose, until their legs ached and lungs burned and until Adrian was sure his heart would explode in his chest. From there on out it was just the two of them trying to live it out in the slums of Chicago.
Adrian knew very little about the actual history of vampires taking over, as well as the social ranking and why they ran things. It was just that, and he went with it. As far as he knew, until it was brought to his attention in his teens, humans had always been the bottom of the food chain. When he did finally learn he questioned more. He was a curious kid, being the youngest, and he poked and pried and did all he could to learn. Vampires were interesting creatures, albleit dangerous from what he'd been told, but when one very simple piece of information came up he couldn't just brush it off: the existence of registered humans in the inner city, providing blood for the vampires in exchange for an easier life. He asked his brother about it, why they didn't ever do it, but it was met with a less than savory reaction. Thus, they continued doing what they did best for a couple of more years. They even rounded up some more people around their ages to form a communal living situation and support one another that way.
The life of stealing and just getting by wasn't ever enough for Adrian, though, who still was sure the life inside the inner city was the better choice. Thus, but his early twenties, he found his way there along with having himself registered. He left behind his old habits in the outer city, focused on setting himself up and becoming a stable member of society on the inside, and adapted to the way of life set up by the vampires. Things turned out okay, though the 'blood bag' bit still was a bit weird to him even years later. How could anyone get used to just having someone casually feed on you, anyway? But, aside from that, Adrian felt as if his life headed down a more positive route. Despite being a human he did what he could to keep himself in good favor and obliged to whatever it was the vampires enforced.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
