The Magistrate

Formed roughly sixty years ago, the Magistrate are there to oversee the law of the inner city's inner workings, mainly the business of the registered humans. The Magistrate oversee the arrival and registration, training and employment of the registered humans. The Magistrate are also in charge of assigning humans to vampires as well making sure that the process run smoothly and that the laws are being followed.

Although most vampires are in charge of the humans they turn and sire, not all of the newly turned vampires are as lucky. Turning another vampire is a huge responsibility of which the sire themselves are expected to teach the newborn vampires all about being a vampire to avoid chaos. The lesser fortunate newborn vampires will be taken care of by the Magistrate the same way they would with a registered human.

However, all sires who do not take on the responsibility or turn a human without properly teaching them, will be prosecuted. All newborn vampires must be registered within the Magistrate.

The Magistrate holds both judicial and execute power within their sphere of responsibility and also has the power to issue magisterial law. However, like any other organization within the vampire and human world, the Magistrate report directly to the king or queen of a city/geographical area and are not above the law of the Inquisition. The two organizations work hand in hand.

Ranks:

The Grand Consul - The highest elected office of the Magistrate. The consuls also make up the council of the Magistrate. The Grand Consul are in charge of assigning duties and in overall overseeing the business of the Magistrate.
Praetor - An elected Magistrate assigned various duties, such as assigning work, training, etc for both the registered humans and newborn vampires.
Curule Aediles - Responsible for the general maintenance; Such as overseeing that the laws are being followed.
