There was that devilish side to the brunette only Shannon seemed to know even existed half the time. Narrowing her eyes, she put the case back down and stole a seat upon the couch. Admittedly she had put the fate of her experience in the hands of her friend. Not a particularly smart idea, but at least she hadn't gone for anything even worse in that collection of hers. Shannon knew well and good that there lurked darker evils in some of those cases.
She rolled her eyes at the little guilt trip Jessica was trying to pull. She could see right through it, but that didn't mean it didn't sort of work. "We'll watch.' She huffed, grabbing one of the blankets slung over the back of the couch. Spreading it out over her and her friend, she settled across the couch comfortably. She figured she might as well, if she was being forced to watch. "You're getting the lights though." She said with a small cheeky smile of her own.
There was some satisfaction to be had at the fact the blonde didn't put up more of a fight. it was almost like Jessica had won something against the inquisitor. Grinning now, she happily took the blanket and got cozy.
Until, of course, she was informed that she would be getting the lights. Narrowing her eyes, she leveled a frown at the smug woman now lying on the couch. "You little..." She murmured, but nonetheless begrudgingly got up. She did deserve a punishment like that, at most.
With a flick of her fingers, she shut off the light so only the television illuminated the room. When she got back to the couch, she didn't retake her old seat though. Instead she moved the blankets off her friend and laid down right on top of her before pulling them back over. "There we go." She sighed, getting comfortable before reaching out to grab the remote and start the movie. She paused long enough to throw the blonde an "innocent" smile.
The grumbling retort was Shannon's small victory, as well as making the brunette get up the cut the lights. She watched with an admittedly smug smile until her roommate returned to the couch. However, the blonde had certainly not expected to become a cushion herself. The air left her lungs in a whoosh as the sudden weight hadn't been anticipated. Clearly this was a little revenge on her behalf.
Glancing down at the brown head of hair, she returned Jessica's look with one of her own. One that was playfully pointed with furrowed brows of suggested annoyance. "You're the devil, I swear." She said, joking. She didn't feel any true irritation, honestly. Resigned to her fate, she shifted enough to put an arm around the other woman's waist and turn her head toward the movie. At least they wouldn't have to worry too much about overheated, considering both of their body heat was pretty low.
Once again, she only stuck out her tongue in response. A mature response, to be sure. Especially for one over a century old. Then again, she didn't really like conforming to expectations anyways.
Seeing as she wasn't getting shoved off to the floor, she settled against Shannon and rested her head down. The blonde might not have been the best pillow, but Jessica was comfortable. As the movie started though, she found herself becoming engrossed by it despite having seen it a number of times before.
When the music came on, that's what caught her attention the most. She really did miss it more than she realized.

Soon enough the movie really started, and Shannon was trapped. If she'd had any intentions of leaving, she'd just missed her chance. However, it was nice simply lying there and spending some time with her friend. Especially after she'd had a day like this. Shannon could stomach the movie for now. However, that didn't mean it would be devoid of her commentary.
'You know," She started, frowning slightly. "I never understood some of these old 'princess' movies. I mean, what is this one suppose to teach young kids? Stay away from strangers unless they're attractive?" She asked. Of course, she knew that most of the old movies were products of their time. Still, some of them made Shannon question them more than anything.
Leave it up to Shannon to suddenly turn chatty the moment the movie started. Not that the brunette particularly minded, but it was just funny considering the blonde rarely spoke so much outside of commentary.
"I doubt that was the intended lesson, Shan." She answered, glancing up at the other woman. "They just really liked the whole 'love at first sight' gimmick for a while." She explained. Although if she thought long on it, she could easily see some of the flaws in the films. She usually just ignored them though to try enjoying the movie.
Shannon knew that wasn't the movie's intended moral. If it had been, she was sure there would've been something of an uproar about it. Still, Shannon felt entitled to her speculation if she was going to watch through the whole thing in the first place. Thinking about love at first sight though gave her pause. She'd heard of it before; it was common in films and love stories. Personally Shannon thought it was a stupid notion. That might've been because of her own personality and experiences speaking though. People didn't get close to her often, with a few exceptions being Tommy or the woman currently laying on her.
Speaking of which, she glanced down to observe the brunette with a curious expression. "Do you believe in love at first sight?" She questioned.
Did she believe in love at first sight? What an odd question. Even if they were on the subject, the praetor admittedly hadn't expected that to be asked. She shifted her head to glanced up at the woman she currently used as a pillow. Seeing the curious blue gaze aimed back down at her, Jessica stared back at the screen and considered.
"I mean...maybe?" She replied, a little unsure of her own answer. "I guess it depends on the person. Although, then again, sometimes people can mistake attraction for love. Especially if they haven't felt it before." She glanced back up at the blond with a smirk. "I mean, think about teenagers in highschool. All of them had to think they were in 'love' at some point. So I think love can be a common misconception." She explained.
Now she was curious though. "What about you? Do you believe in love at first sight?"

Shannon could see her question was actually given some real consideration. It was nice, considering she was interrupting the movie she had suggested they watch in the first place. Although the answer she was given only somewhat surprised her. Love as a misconception. She could see how that might be the case. With people's first experience of affection, it could feel like love to the inexperienced. Add that to the fact that most thought love only came in purely romantic form.
Now that the question was turned to her, Shannon didn't have to wait long at all to answer. "No." She said simply, shrugging her shoulders as if that was all she needed to say.
Admittedly it was just like Shannon to suddenly give a minimalistic answer right after receiving a lengthy one from the brunette. So Jessica looked up and narrowed her eyes at the other woman. She playfully but pointedly poked her in the side.
"Leave it up to you to suddenly not be chatty when I want you to. You expect me to just give you an explanation and not want one in return?" She asked. "Come on, Shan. What's you're reasoning?" She pushed with a huff, staring at the blonde.

The poke to her side had Shannon jerking slightly from how unexpected it was. Returning the stare with a narrowed eyed glare of her own, she couldn't help but smirk a little at her friend's dissatisfaction with her answer. She'd intentionally given a short answer since she knew it would get on the brunette's nerve. That wasn't the only reason though. In truth, the brunette had essentially outlined Shanno's own feelings on the subject.
Still, she could at least give a little more. "You've basically said all that I would." She easily admitted with a shrug of her shoulders. "Although I'm a bit more firm in my disbelief of love at first sight." She added. It really might've had to do with her own difficulty forming friendships, or even basic good will towards anyone else. Either way, she still poked Jessica in the side in retaliation. "But that doesn't give you an excuse to poke me."
In all fairness she should've expected a retaliation to her little jab. As it was, she still squeaked and squirmed a little when Shannon poked her back. Not one to be defeated so easily, she did it again to the tall blonde, frowning a little. There was no real ire to it anyhow. Although she had to be careful of starting up a battle she knew she would lose.
"I do when you're being a cheeky little so and so." She argued. No doubt, the other woman had purposefully done that. "And I know for a fact that you were. Letting me go off on a short rant while you only gave one word in response. What do you take me for, huh?"

The squeak she got was like a small victory for Shannon, but she was poked again. She leveled a narrowed eyes look at her friend. She knew the danger of starting something up. Shannon was, undoubtably, stronger than the smaller woman. Not only that, but less effected by any form of tickling, unlike she was. "I think," she started, her hands moving to the brunette's sides, "you're still a big baby." With that she mercilessly began tickling her roommate, the movie temporarily forgotten as she dished out some much needed- and totally fair- justice.
She knew the brunette would try to escape so Shannon prevented it for as long as she could. But she wasn't going to torture the girl for long. Eventually she did stop with a satisfied smile on her face. "Had enough?" She questioned jokingly, already knowing the answer.
Oh shit she'd done it now. Before Jessica could pop off a sentence, she was being mercilessly attacked with tickles to her sides. The effect was immediate: Jessica dissolved into a fit of giggles and tried her very best to get away. However Shannon was clearly having none of that, so she was trapped to take her (probably deserved) punishment for the next minute or two.
When it did end, The brunette was a breathless disheveled heap. The question only brought about a glare from the smaller woman, and she hit the (oh so) smug vampire on the chest. "You're evil." She accused with a grumble.

The little smack did smart a little, considering where it hit, but that wasn't enough to chase the cheek smile off Shannon's face. She'd been called evil before, sometimes not so playfully as the brunette now was- even if she grumbled while saying it. Instead of retorting or arguing with her, Shannon's gaze flicked over to the still running movie. "You're missing the movie." She pointed out, turning her blue gaze back down to the brunette.
Yes, she was being especially irritable today it seemed.
