What was the world like before?
Much like our current world, except for the fact that Vampires actually existed in secrecy. Some pulled strings behind the scenes, others were content with live within the societies that they had created among themselves. However, all abided by a code of silence known simply as 'The Veil'.'
What exactly is The Veil?
It was an agreement among the majority of vampires to keep themselves hidden from the world. History is littered with painful myths about vampiric incursions, mass murders, etc. attributed to monsters and ghouls. Some hold truth, others were merely fantasy. But enough of these events happened to sway many into the belief that to be truly safe, they needed to be hidden.
Inner city? Outer city? City walls?
Picture a city - any city will do. Then take the middle of the city, put some walls around it and you have the inner city. Then anything around the inner city counts as the outer city, but around them again, there's more walls. Two layers make the inner and outer city, and behind the city walls; the ruins.
So it goes like this:
The [ City ( Outer ( Inner City ) City ) Walls ] Ruins
Can my character be an unregistered and still live outside the outer city?
Of course they can. But keep in mind that the outer city walls are guarded, which means that the only way in and out are the sewer and subway tunnels. It's not supposed to be easy to sneak in and out, after all.
Does Old Chicago have a ruler?
Yes, it does indeed. The ruler, the king of old Chicago is an old vampire who goes by the name of Lucian. According to the rumors, he's quite cold hearted and cruel, but he takes somewhat care of his people. Lucian is the top dog.
Can vampires breed?
No, no they cannot.
Does vampires' hair and nails still grow, even if they're dead?
Because of the way our vampires work, when they drink, the blood they drink will pump through their system, keeping their limbs from growing slow and sluggish, so yes, their nails and hair would still be capable of growing.
Are there any rules when it comes to creating new vampires?
There are three types of vampires; Elder, master and mongrel. Mongrels usually ALWAYS create gangrels when trying to turn humans into vampires. Masters have a slightly bigger chance of creating vampires instead of gangrels, whereas elders have an even bigger chance. There are no specific rules, but each vampire who decide to turn someone, has full responsibility for whatever might happen with said vampire they turn, be it them turning into a gangrel or causing any issues.
Are newborn vampires just as strong as other vampires?
No, newborn vampires will be weaker due to their inexperience to being a vampire. This is a process that usually takes some time.
